The original idea for BodyRev came to company co-founder, Alden Mills, years ago when his U.S. Navy SEAL platoon was studied to learn why so many SEALs became injured as a result of their physical training. An expert hired by the military discovered that many of the injuries sustained by the SEALs were the result of using decades-old strength training techniques-repetitive exercises using free weights that placed extreme stress on a few isolated muscles and joints at a time.

Alden Mills and company co-founder Mark Friedman designed the BodyRev with the help of top fitness professionals, engineers, and a university kinesiologist. Using principles taught to the SEALs, now called Functional Training, Mills developed the BodyRev workout routines. Functional Training is the idea that people become healthier and more effective if they train the way they naturally move in their daily lives.

PT Metrics commissioned two studies by independent researchers to evaluate the efficacy of the BodyRev system of exercise and sensible eating. The results in the guarded words of one researcher were "very impressive." The 35 women who took part in the 12 week BodyRev program on average lost:
•   30% Body Fat •   11 lbs
•   4.6 Dress Sizes •   Increased resting metabolic rate by 155 calories per day

Another study found that a BodyRev workout was equivalent to running 5 mph on a treadmill.

"Two hands on the weight system gave me a greater sense of balance and control-I felt my abdominal muscles engage for the first time in years," says Linda J, BodyRev clinical study participant. She added, "It's made a huge difference in my life."
